Wayne Board Of Education To Present New Reopening Plan Thursday

The presentation is currently available to view, and includes five day learning at the elementary school level.

WAYNE, NJ — The Board of Education is set to present the latest phase of a return to school plan which features five days a week of in-person learning at the elementary school level.

April 19 is targeted as the day for kindergarten through second grade students to return to five abbreviated days per week, with April 26 the target date for third through fifth graders.

Upon their return, both of those groups would see the cohort model eliminated. That isn't the case at the middle and high school levels, however.

The elementary groups would return on tiered dates due to concerns from principals and teachers about the effects of a transition all at once, according to the presentation.

This proposal also includes results from a community survey sent out by the board, and staff responses to that survey as well.
