Wayne COVID Vaccine Clinic Receiving 200 Fewer Doses
Mayor Christopher Vergano said he had "no idea why" this is happening. The township received 500 doses last week, but only 300 this week.
WAYNE, NJ — It's hard to get a COVID-19 vaccine at Wayne Township's Macy's building site, and it's going to be even harder this week.
Mayor Christopher Vergano announced the township would be receiving 300 doses this week, 200 less than the 500 sent to Wayne last week.
"We have no idea why," Vergano said.

"I know it's still frustrating for everyone who wants to get a vaccine," he added.
Vaccines appointments in the township fill up within minutes of being posted on Friday afternoons. Even with the 500 doses last week, Vergano said all appointments were booked in about six minutes.

The township currently receives only the Moderna vaccine, but Vergano said he was hopeful to receive some doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine as more become available. Once the township does receive those vaccines, Vergano said the township can start vaccinating residents who can't leave their home.
To date, 3,947 people have received their first dose of the vaccine at Wayne's clinic and 1,691 have received their second dose, totaling 5,638.
Across the county there are other places to get vaccinated. "Don't hesitate to sign up at multiple sites," Vergano said.
