Wayne Schools Cancel Virtual Learning Amid 'Extreme Weather'
Officials originally planned for virtual learning, but changed course as a major storm continues to hit the area.
WAYNE, NJ — Public school officials planned for virtual learning Monday, but were forced to cancel classes outright due to "extreme weather conditions."
The decision was announced via social media shortly after 7 a.m. Monday. District officials said Sunday that virtual learning would be implemented barring any widespread power outage issues.
No major issues have been reported as of early Monday morning, but the storm isn't over.

The National Weather Service's New York City office expects snowfall in the range of 18-24 inches for northeast New Jersey. A reported 5.3 inches have already fallen in the township as of 7 a.m., according to the NWS.
No decision has been made yet for Tuesday classes in Wayne, but Patch will have updates as they become available.
