Wayne Township Eclipses February COVID Case Totals
The township recorded 720 new cases of the coronavirus as of March 27, over 150 more than February.
WAYNE, NJ — March coronavirus cases eclipsed the number reported in February by over 150, Wayne Mayor Christopher Vergano reported Sunday.
As of March 27, 720 new positives have been recorded this month, rising above the 558 cases reported in February, but not higher than the over 1,000 reported in January and December.
The new case totals includes an average of 26 new cases per day, Vergano said.

"The pandemic is still out there, it's still real, so we need you to continue to do the things that we've been doing," said Vergano.

Despite another rise in COVID cases in many areas of the state, New Jersey continues to lift some restrictions as vaccine rollout increases.
Gov. Phil Murphy has increased the general outdoor gathering limit to 200 people, effective as of 6 a.m. Friday. It will rise from a limit of 50. Read more: NJ Lifts More Outdoor Gathering, Entertainment Venue Restrictions
