Wayne Valley High School to Host Annual Band Competition

Official USBands Gold Showcase Competition Taking Place at Stadium Sept. 29th at 3pm

WAYNE NJ, September 12, 2018 -- The Wayne Valley Band Parents Association, a tax exempt 501 (c) (3) organization, announced today that the Wayne Valley Marching Band will be hosting the prestigious USBands Gold Showcase Competition on Saturday, September 29th, 2018 from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Wayne Valley High School. With ten marching bands slated to compete, the association is expecting over 750 high school band students and roughly 4,000 spectators from all over the Northern New Jersey metro area, with one band coming from NY. This will be the school's third annual “Music in the Valley” Competition.

"You'll be treated to an amazing display of talent by these inspiring young men and women from all over the region," stated Lisa Dell Antonia, Band Parents Association Co-President. "There will be school spirit-wear for sale, as well home-baked goods and concession stands, and 50/50 raffles, so come on out and enjoy a fun, music filled day in support of a great bunch of kids," she added. The Band Parents Association (a tax exempt 501 (c) (3) organization) sponsors and organizes these events, and raises funds in support of band members and staff. Proceeds from the competition will help fund the myriad of expenses associated with keeping this national championship caliber band operating.

These competitions are an opportunity for the host bands to generate a majority of their funds for the purchase and maintenance of band instruments, uniforms, vehicles and other on-going operations of the group. "There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes at an event like this," stated Jennie Franklyn, Band Association Co-President. "It is a lot of hard work but when you hear the way these kids perform and see the artistry and precision of their routines, it makes it all worthwhile," she added.
