Wayne Wawa Approved, Will Be First Location In Passaic County
The Planning Board unanimously approved Wawa's proposal at a Monday meeting.

WAYNE, NJ — Wawa, among New Jersey's favorite gas station/convenience store chain,s will open its first Passaic County location in Wayne Township.
At a Monday meeting, Wayne's Planning Board approved the proposal from Wawa unanimously, after neighbors voiced complaints about potential accidents and traffic in the area, according to TapInto.
The complaints have been steady since the developer MCBS-RENJ Wayne LLC first pitched the plan in early 2020, according to a Patch report, with a township group even creating a "Say no to Wawa" movement.

However, Monday dealt the final blow to the opposition of the project, which will move forward with the demolition of the now-shuttered Nagel's Candy Barn building at the corner of Route 23 and Cedar Place.
What will rise from the debris of that building is a 4,736-square-foot convenience store with 52 spots and gas station with eight pumps.
