Whole Foods Opens In Wayne On Thursday

In addition to groceries, Whole Foods will open with a burger bar serving craft beer and cocktails.

WAYNE, NJ — After years in development, Whole Foods will finally open in Wayne Township, and you can find more than just groceries there.

The opening is scheduled for Thursday at 8 a.m., and marks the grocery chain's 50th store location in the Northeast.

Located at 560 Valley Rd. in the township, the new 40,000 sq. ft. store will feature Market Burger, a burger bar which offers beef and plant-based burgers, as well as cocktails, wine and craft beer on tap.

The construction of the store on Valley Road was announced by Mayor Christopher Vergano in April 2018, according to a Patch report.

In the years between then and the opening, there were rumors that the store was pulling out of the space as progress was slow moving.

However, on Sept. 2 Vergano reported the store would open this month, and on Sept. 3 Whole Foods announced the official opening day.

"I know it's only been five years," he said, sarcastically at the time.

Better late than never.
