Amazon To Bring 2,000 Jobs To West Deptford: Report

The Amazon Fulfillment Center on Mantua Grove Road is slated for a September opening.

WEST DEPTFORD, NJ — Amazon could employ an entire small town in South Jersey by itself, and that is not an exaggeration.

The Amazon Fulfillment Center in West Deptford is looking to hire 2,000 employees for its mid-September opening, according to the Courier Post. Employees at the 655,000 square-foot center will pick products and pack and ship orders. It is one of 175 fulfillment centers worldwide.

There are plenty of full-time job openings, more than the population of nearby Newfield, which is 1,567, according to the most recent Census.

Amazon Fulfillment Centers hold anything a person can order on Amazon, according to the retail giant’s website. A customer completes a purchase, and in the fulfillment center the items they ordered are pulled from the shelves, packed for shipment, and sent on their way.

“Most fulfillment center jobs require a full-time schedule commitment, and we often have seasonal positions available during our busiest times of the year,” the company says. “You'll have the opportunity to learn multiple processes in the warehouse, including running our powered equipment.”
