Dad In DWI Crash On NJ Highway, Killing 1-Year-Old Daughter: Cops

​A father was reportedly driving drunk on a suspended license when he crashed on a New Jersey highway, killing his 1-year-old daughter.

SOUTH JERSEY – A father was driving drunk on a suspended license when he crashed on a New Jersey highway, killing his 1-year-old daughter, police said.

Leroy Iglesia, 34, of Blackwood faces vehicular homicide and child endangerment charges in connection with the crash that killed Elowen Iglesia, 1, of Williamstown, police said. He was also charged with possession of crack cocaine and heroin.

Iglesia was driving on Route 55 southbound near milepost 52.8 in Mantua Township when his minivan ran off the right side of the road and struck two trees at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, police said.

The vehicle then moved back onto the road and stopped in the middle of the highway, police said.

It's not known if Elowen was properly restrained in a child safety seat at the time, police said.

An investigation is continuing. The New York Post reported that Iglesia was driving on a suspended license.

Iglesia was lodged in the Salem County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing.
