Free Kids Fishing Contest In Gloucester County Set For Saturday
Gloucester County will host its annual free Kids Fishing Contest at Scotland Run Park in Clayton on Saturday.
GLOUCESTER COUNTY, NJ — Gloucester County will host its annual free Kids Fishing Contest at Scotland Run Park in Clayton on Saturday, officials announced. The event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., rain or shine.
"This catch and release contest is a fun way for kids to show off their fishing skills in a competitive, but friendly environment," Gloucester County Freeholder Director Robert M. Damminger said.
All kids 18 and under are eligible to enter, and kids 16 and older must be licensed in order to compete. Competitors are allowed one rod and one reel per person and must bring their own bait. All attendees are asked to wear facial coverings and practice social distancing while in the park.

“Fishing is often a way for families to connect,” Gloucester County Freeholder Jim Lavender, liaison to the Department of Parks, said. “We are proud to continue this tradition safely during COVID-19 at Scotland Run Park, and we encourage our young residents to come out and try out their fishing skills on September 19.”
