How Hot Did It Get In West Deptford During Heat Wave?

WEST DEPTFORD, NJ — South Jersey saw the most intense heat of the weekend heat wave, according to the National Weather Service’s heat index map.

The heat index hit 118 degrees in Camden County at about 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, July 21. In Burlington County on Sunday afternoon, the heat index hit about 112 degrees. In Gloucester County, the heat index reached 109 degrees.

The heat index takes the real temperature and humidity into account. In West Deptford, the real temperature hit a high of 97 degrees over the weekend. A Heat Advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m. on Monday.

The forecast for Monday called for a high of 92 degrees with a low of 71, with severe thunderstorms possible after 3 p.m. Things were expected to cool off significantly beginning Tuesday. Here’s the forecast for the week, according to the National Weather Service:
