Man Wanted In NJ Murder, New Mexico Deaths Arrested: Prosecutor

GLOUCESTER COUNTY, NJ — A Gloucester County man who was wanted in connection with a murder in New Jersey and another four deaths in New Mexico has been captured, authorities announced Wednesday morning.

Sean Lannon, 47 of east Greenwich, was arrested in St. Louis, Missouri, by members of the U.S. Marshal’s St. Louis Metro Fugitive Task Force, Acting Gloucester County Prosecutor Christine Hoffman and New Jersey United States Marshal Juan Mattos announced.

Lannon is charged with murder, burglary, murder during the commission of a robbery, murder during the commission of a burglary, robbery, possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of a blunt object for an unlawful purpose, and theft of a motor vehicle.

“The rapid and successful apprehension of Lannon is the direct result of excellent collaboration between a wide array of local, county, state and federal partners,” Hoffman said. “We are particularly grateful to the U.S. Marshal’s New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force/Camden Division as well as their parallel jurisdictions between New Jersey and Missouri for deploying their resources to rapidly apprehend Lannon, who was clearly a direct threat to the public.”

“The identification, tracking and rapid arrest of Lannon was undertaken in the longstanding and finest traditions of the US Marshal’s Service,” Mattos said. “The USMS always stands ready to aid our law enforcement partners to ensure that jurisdictional and geographical boundaries do not slow down the critical efforts of law enforcement to apprehend and remove violent offenders from the street.”

The four people who went missing in New Mexico and were later found deceased included Lannon’s ex-wife, according to NBC 10. Lannon and the 66-year-old East Greenwich victim reportedly knew each other.

“While the wide array of specific law enforcement and social service agencies involved in this investigation will become clearer moving forward, the Prosecutor and investigative staff at the GCPO are also grateful and deeply appreciative of contributions made to this ongoing investigation by members of the community and the media,” Hoffman said.

Detectives believe there are additional witnesses who can provide crucial information to aid and further this active investigation, Hoffman said.
