DEPTFORD, NJ — Macy’s announced Tuesday that it will be closing all stores, including the location in Deptford, until March 31 in a response to the growing new coronavirus crisis.

The closures will go into effect at the end of business Tuesday. The announcement coincided with Gov. Phil Murphy’s announcement that all the indoor malls and amusement parks and centers must close at 8 p.m. on Tuesday and for the duration of the crisis. The Deptford Macy’s is located in the Deptford Mall.

“The health and safety of our customers, colleagues and communities is our utmost priority. As a result of the recent COVID-19 developments, we have decided to temporarily close our stores,” said Jeff Gennette, the chairman and chief executive officer of Macy’s, Inc., in a statement released Tuesday. “We will work with government and health officials to assess when we will reopen our stores and safely bring our colleagues back to work.”
