Rowan To Celebrate Homecoming Virtually Amid Pandemic

The weeklong celebration will include replays of two big football wins and interactive events held online.

GLASSBORO, NJ — Rowan University will screen two big football wins during its virtual Homecoming Celebration, the university announced. The celebration will run from Oct. 5-11, with the two games being shown Oct. 11 on the Rowan Athletics You Tube channel.

The two games that will be shown are the 2016 Homecoming win over 11th ranked Salisbury at 3 p.m., followed by the 2018 Homecoming upset of eight-ranked Wesley.

In 2016, Rowan defeated Salisbury, 34-30. In the fourth quarter, Rowan was down, 30-27, when Dante Pinckney threw the game-winning 13-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Zac Frantz. The defense stopped Wesley on its final three possessions to secure the victory.

Rowan came from behind for the win over Wesley in 2018. Rowan trailed, 27-14, in the fourth quarter before a pair of touchdown runs from John Mannion helped the Profs to a 28-27 win. The winning run of 4 yards was set up by a Nate Lanier interception that set Rowan up at the Wesley 11-yard line.

This year’s Homecoming Celebration will be held virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic. It will also include interactive virtual experiences including reunions, happy hours and one-of-a-kind conversations with Ric Edelman, Dr. Ken Lacovara, Dr. Ed Streb and more.
