Rowan College at Gloucester County's Caribbean Art Exhibition Opens September 8

"Between Worlds - In a World," RCGC's fall art exhibition, focuses on images of conflict and harmony from a Caribbean perspective.

Between Worlds – In a World is Rowan College at Gloucester County’s (RCGC) fall art exhibition, displayed in cooperation with WheatonArts’ latest history and cultural heritage project, Shades of Past, Colors of Present: Preserving Caribbean Cultural Heritage. The exhibition will be on display in the Dr. Ross Beitzel Art Gallery, located in RCGC’s College Center, from Sept. 8 through Oct. 28.

The Caribbean communities in New Jersey are a diverse group representing the cultures of both the Caribbean islands and the surrounding coasts. Despite their many contributions, Caribbean cultures are rarely presented to larger audiences and the wealth of their traditions and various art forms are fairly unknown outside of the Caribbean communities. Between Worlds – In a World focuses on images of conflict and harmony from the perspective of the Caribbean region.

As part of the exhibit, a “Meet the Artist” event will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 1p.m. in the Dr. Ross Beitzel Art Gallery. The event will feature live music performed by the Brown Rice Family Band and the opportunity to meet the 22 talented artists featured in this exhibit. There is no cost to attend and registration is not required.
