West Deptford Baseball Team Falls In State Tournament

West Deptford dropped an 8-4 decision to Point Pleasant Boro in the Group 2 state semifinals on Monday, according to nj.com.

WEST DEPTFORD, NJ — The West Deptford High School baseball team’s season came to an end in the state semifinals.

Point Pleasant Boro defeated West Deptford, 8-4, in the NJSIAA Group 2 state semifinals on Monday, according to nj.com. Point Pleasant Boro put together a 6-0 lead over the third and fourth innings en route to their first appearance in a state title game.

Jack Murphy was 1-for-3 with a walk, a double and three RBI for West Deptford. Colby Garrison was 1-for-2 with two walks and a double for the Eagles, who finished the season with a record of 17-7.

Last week, West Deptford defeated Haddonfield, 5-3, to win the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2 championship. The Eagles opened the sectional tournament with an 8-4 win over No. 15 Cinnaminson, according to nj.com. In the quarterfinals, West Deptford defeated No. 7 Barnegat, 3-1. In the semifinals, West Deptford defeated No. 6 Cedar Creek, 2-1.
