WEST DEPTFORD, NJ — The West Deptford High School baseball team will play for a sectional title on Friday.
The second-seeded Eagles advanced to the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2 final with a 2-1 win over No. 6 Cedar Creek in the semifinals, according to nj.com.
West Deptford will visit No. 1 Haddonfield, an 11-4 winner over No. 5 Haddon Heights in the semifinals, on Friday, May 31. A time has not yet been set.

Gabe Finocchi scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh on a wild pitch to lead West Deptford into the final, according to nj.com. Jack Murphy picked up the win on the mound, throwing 2 â…” perfect innings, striking out six batters. Finocchi pitched the first 4 â…“ innings, striking out seven batters, allowing five hits and permitting a run.
RJ Mason put West Deptford on top early with an RBI in the first inning, but Cedar Creek tied the game in the top of the fourth.

West Deptford brings a 16-6 record into the final. The Eagles opened the tournament with an 8-4 win over No. 15 Cinnaminson, according to nj.com. In the quarterfinals, West Deptford defeated No. 7 Barnegat, 3-1.
