West Deptford Downs Haddonfield For South Jersey Wrestling Crown
The Eagles will wrestle for in the state semifinals on Sunday in Toms River, according to nj.com.

WEST DEPTFORD, NJ - For the first time in nine years, the West Deptford High School wrestling has captured a sectional title.
The top-seeded Eagles defeated Haddonfield, 38-20, to win the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2 championship Friday night at home, according to nj.com. Corey Fischer clinched the title for the Eagles at 160 pounds, when he scored a second-period pinfall. West Deptford held a six-point edge heading into his bout, which was the next to last matchup.
It was the only pinfall victory of the match for West Deptford. A.J. Monahan (113) and Jake McConville (126) each scored tech falls and Tom Steffney won by major decision at 132. For the Bulldawgs, Declan Skelly pinned his opponent at 145, and Luke Benedict scored a tech fall at 152.

West Deptford (24-4) is tentatively set to face High Point (15-2) in the State Group 2 semifinals Sunday morning in Toms River. The winner will face the winner of the match between Hanover Park (13-6) and South Plainfield for the state championship later in the day. West Deptford was the No. 1 seed in South Jersey Group 2, and advanced to the finals with a 49-19 win over No. 8 Sterling in the quarterfinals and a 39-18 win over No. 4 Clayton in the semifinals.

Haddonfield finishes the team portion of the season with a record of 19-6. The Bulldawgs were the No. 2 seed in South Jersey Group 2, and advanced to the finals with a 63-15 win over No. 7 Haddon Heights in the quarterfinals and a 45-31 win over No. 3 Oakcrest in the semifinals.
Next up for Haddonfield will be the individual tournament, which begins with the district round on Saturday, Feb. 16.
