West Deptford Football Team Pursues Top Spot In Group 2 Playoffs

Saturday is the high school football playoff cutoff date, and West Deptford and Cedar Creek are chasing the No. 1 seed in SJ Group 2.

WEST DEPTFORD, NJ — Saturday is the cutoff date for the high school football playoffs, and West Deptford is in contention for the top spot in NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2, according to Gridiron New Jersey.

This year’s playoff format incorporates power points and strength index to come up with a team’s power ranking. For an explanation of the new playoff system, visit nj.com. It’s practically impossible to figure out what impact this weekend’s results will have on the standings, but West Deptford is in a fight for the top spot with Cedar Creek.

West Deptford is currently No. 1 with a record of 6-1, 20.43 power points and a strength index of 60.49. Cedar Creek is No. 2 with a record of 6-2, 16 power points and a strength index of 64.02.

On Friday night, Cedar Creek defeated Camden Catholic, 41-7.
