West Deptford High School Football Team Set For Playoffs

West Deptford is the No. 3 seed in the playoffs and face Barnegat on Friday.

WEST DEPTFORD, NJ — The West Deptford High School football team is chasing a South Jersey championship this season. For the first time, the teams that emerge as South Jersey champions will play their Central Jersey counterparts.

West Deptford is the No. 3 seed in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2 playoffs, according to nj.com. The Eagles will host No. 6 Barnegat in the first round on Friday night, Nov. 2, 7 p.m.

The winner will play the winner of the game between No. 2 Camden and No. 7 Collingswood in the semifinals on Nov. 9. The championship game is set for Nov. 16, but it doesn’t end there this season.

After the traditional Thanksgiving Week rivalry games, the South Jersey Group 2 champions will play the Central Jersey Group 2 champions. To view the NJSIAA Central Jersey Group 2 playoff bracket, visit nj.com.

West Deptford is 6-2 this season, and dropped a six-point decision, 27-21, to undefeated top seeded Haddonfield on Oct. 5. Their other loss was a 19-14 loss at the hands of rival Paulsboro to open the season.

West Deptford shut out two other playoff teams, downing No. 7 Collingswood, 38-0, on Sept. 8; and dropping No. 8 Sterling 30-0, on Sept. 21.

Barnegat is 6-2.
