Five Things We're Thankful For In Westfield

WESTFIELD, NJ - On this day of giving thanks we thought it only appropriate to share our thoughts on the five things we are most thankful for in Westfield. Our list is far from complete, but with so many things to choose from that should come as no surprise. So here were some thoughts that readily leapt to mind, in no particular order.

Five Things We're Thankful For In Westfield

1. Contested elections. You shouldn't be surprised at this one, we are journalists after all. The fact that there are people excited, engaged and wanting to serve the public as elected officials is a wonderful thing that should be celebrated. This recent school board race was another example in a long line of people looking to serve Westfield and we're thankful for that.

2. A stellar school district. We have enjoyed a wonderful relationship with many in the Westfield area, but the school district has a special place in our hearts. The staff, the students, the administrators are all pulling in one direction and that is education excellence.

3. Infrastructure updating. We know that it is a pain to deal with road closures and parking problems but it is nice to see the work being done in Westfield for the betterment of the community.

4. Constantly evolving downtown. One thing the Westfield Downtown does not do is rest on its laurels. The center is forever changing growing. As some businesses disappear new ones crop up or old ones get revamped. Progress is always happening in downtown and Westfield is better for it.

5. Our Westfield readers. Thank you, Westfield Patch readers, for taking time in your busy days to spend a few moments with Patch. We appreciate your visits and contributions, and we want you to know we take nothing for granted here. Thank you for helping us to grow and thrive this year.
