A New Jersey pizzeria that was recently recognized for being among the nation's best has reportedly closed because of health violations.
Spirito’s in Elizabeth was closed when it was visited by NJ Advance Media this weekend. The news organization found the restaurant had a red sanitation violation notice posted in the window. The notice was posted last week.
Cheryl Hathaway-Spirito posted this in the Facebook group "Fans of Spirito's Restaurant:" "Temporarily closed until matters resolved, will keep you posted and on behalf of Spiritos thank you for your patronage and support at this time."

The Daily Meal said this: Spirito's Restaurant (Elizabeth): "If you're from a certain part of Northern New Jersey, there's about a 100 percent chance that you've heard of Spirito's, and an equally good chance that you've been there.
