Road Work Continues This Week In Westfield

Road improvements are continuing this week in Westfield for local and county roads. Take a look at what to expect.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Road improvements are continuing this week in Westfield for local and county roads. Take a look at what to expect.

Local road projects:

  • Benson Place (East Broad Street to Harding Street): The stamped intersection of St. Marks/Benson is scheduled for Wednesday. Speed hump installation is scheduled to begin the week of Sept. 17.
  • Elm Street (East Dudley to Sinclair Place) and Sylvania Place (Elm Street to Lawrence Avenue): Paving complete. Striping is expected to be installed the week of Sept. 17.
  • Overhill Street (Madison Avenue to Brisbane Place): Paving complete. Striping is expected to be installed the week of Sept. 17.
  • Parking Lot #7: Work on the improvement of this lot moves forward, as the installation of drainage infrastructure has been completed. Sidewalk and perimeter curbing installation continues, as does the construction of the interior islands. The installation of lighting infrastructure will begin during the week of Sept. 17 as the town coordinates these efforts with PSE&G.

Beyond this week, other local and county projects are also scheduled to begin:

  • The installation of ADA ramps will continue in the areas of Brightwood Avenue, Florence Avenue and Marion Avenue, including the replacement of manhole and drainage inlet infrastructure. This will be followed by the milling/resurfacing of these roadways, which is anticipated for the week of Sept. 24.
  • North Avenue (East Broad Street to Townline): Union County is in the process of improving North Avenue, and will continue with these improvements over the next several evenings, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Click here for updates and additional information.
  • Elm Street Culvert Replacement: This project has begun, and Union County expects this improvement to take approximately two months to complete. Click here for updates and additional information.
