See What Westfield Paving Projects Are Next

WESTFIELD, NJ - We are in the dog days of summer and Westfield's record number of road improvements are rolling along as both the town and Elizabethtown Gas are working on upgrading local thoroughfares.

Over the last nine years, the Town has paved an average of approximately four miles of roadway each year. This year, that figure will rise to more than eight total miles, 31 roads, marking an unprecedented effort in this area. In addition to the municipal paving efforts, the Town also announced an agreement with Elizabethtown Gas in which the utility will pave 9.82 miles of roadway on 59 roads that it has disrupted as part of its ongoing maintenance and repair work in various parts of Town over the course of the past 18 months.

2019 Municipal Capital Improvements:

• Munsee Way (entire length), Minisink Way (entire length), Bailey Court (entire length) and Lenape Trail (entire length): Replacement of inlets and manholes and installation of ADA compliant ramps complete. Final repaving to be scheduled.
• Boulevard (Clover Street to Cauefield Place) and Midvale Way (Summit Avenue to Boulevard): Paving complete. Striping to be scheduled.
• Boulevard (Cauefield Place to Clover Street), Clover Street (Boulevard to Summit Avenue), Summit Avenue (Clover Street to Clifton Street), Clifton Street (Boulevard to Rahway Avenue): Milling complete. Replacement of inlets and manholes complete. Installation of surface course scheduled to occur the week of Aug. 12.
• Pierson Street (entire length): Milling complete. Replacement of inlets and manholes complete. Installation of ADA compliant curb ramps complete. Installation of surface course scheduled to occur the week of Aug. 12.
• ADA-Compliant Curb Ramps: Installation of numerous ramps around Jefferson School is complete, in advance of the paving scheduled for the week of August 12. Additionally, ramps in the vicinity of Eaglecroft Road, Charles Street and Clark Street have been completed or are currently underway. This work will continue for the remainder of August in anticipation of paving later this month.

The work is weather permitting.
