Slice Of Life: Eat Free Pizza With The Westfield Police Thursday

WESTFIELD, NJ — Take a bite out of crime on Thursday evening when Westfield runs a Pizza with the Police in-person event at a downtown pizzeria. The public is invited to ask questions, get to know their local officers, and even enjoy live music.

The event will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. at Outta Hand Pizza at 311 South Avenue West.

A Facebook notice for the event says, "Stop by for a slice and a soda compliments of the Westfield Police Department. Meet the newly formed Community Policing Bureau. Ask questions. Discuss concerns. Music provided by BBD R&B Band."

Car Theft And Crime Update

In a note about the event last week, Mayor Shelley Brindle gave an update on motor vehicle thefts in town:

"Since my last update, Chief Battiloro advises that no new vehicle burglaries or thefts have been reported. Enhanced police patrols focused specifically on residential neighborhoods remain in full effect and will continue until further notice.

"While the Westfield Police Department is working hard to make this community safe and free from crime, vehicle thefts remain a persistent criminal problem in Union County municipalities. Chief Battiloro strongly encourages all residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious persons, vehicles and/or activities immediately via 9-1-1. The Westfield Police Department stands ready to respond to your requests for assistance.
