Snow Plows Are Out In Westfield, Emergency Police Order Declared
Police Chief Wayman stated that snow plows are now working on Westfield streets. Parking restrictions are also in effect.

As of 4 p.m. Monday afternoon, snow plows are out in Westfield, Police Chief David C. Wayman reports. Residents are instructed to move cars from the roadway immediately so DPW snow plows can get through.
Westfield Police have declared a Police Emergency, enforcing parking and safety restrictions as the blizzard blows 1 to 2 inches per hour into town.
“A State of Emergency is in effect,” Chief Wayman stated in an alert. “Please restrict unnecessary travel. Conditions are becoming hazardous.”

Parking restrictions are in effect at several streets around Westfield. Chief Wayman stated that any vehicles parked in violation at the roads listed below will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense, pursuant to the emergency police order.

Parking will be prohibited on the following streets from 3 p.m. Monday through 6 a.m. Wednesday:
- Central Ave (entire length);
- Clark St (between W Dudley Ave & Edgewood Ave);
- East Broad St (between Mountain Ave & N Euclid Ave);
- Prospect St (between E Broad St & E Dudley Ave);
- West South Ave (between Westfield Ave & Central Ave);
- West Broad St (entire length).
Westfield is under a Blizzard watch from Monday afternoon through Tuesday evening, as more than a foot of “heavy blowing snow” is predicted to hit the state, the National Weather Service reports.
By Monday night, Westfield could see 9 inches of new snow accumulation, with an additional 3 to 7 inches falling on Tuesday. According to the NWS, much of the state will see blizzard conditions and 1 to 2 feet of snow.
