Two Westfield And 1 Cranford Student Win Scholarships

Two Westfield students and a Cranford student were given the honors on Wednesday.

WESTFIELD, NJ — Three local students were awarded scholarships on Wednesday from the Westfield Education Association, the teachers' union.

The Westfield Education Association scholarships were awarded to Dilany Santamaria and Xenia Kobari.

In the fall, Dilany will attend Brigham Young University and Xenia will attend the University of Toronto. The scholarships are based on academic achievement, school activities, and community service.

The Barry Judd Memorial Scholarship is given in the memory of Barry Judd, who was a well-respected World Language Teacher at Westfield High School from 1974-1992. Mr. Judd’s teaching career embodied a love for learning and a devotion to helping others.

The award is granted to a WEA member’s son or daughter who will be attending college in the fall.

This year’s recipient is Daniel Klimko. Daniel is a senior at Cranford High School and will be attending the University of Cincinnati.

Daniel’s mother, Jodi Klimko, is a Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant at Westfield High School.

The awards were presented to the students on May 26 at Westfield High School. Funds for these scholarships come directly from the Westfield Education Association.
