Thunderstorms Possible In NJ: Here's Where

New Jersey will get one of its best-weather weekends in a whole. But the state won't get complete relief from the nasty weather that it needs.

Thunderstorms are in the forecast for later Friday, possibly starting in the early evening and particularly in South Jersey.

There is some better news in the temperature department for people in New Jersey although episodes of clouds and showers will intervene on Friday and into next week, according to AccuWeather.

While an atmospheric roadblock and its associated buckle in the jet stream will remain, the pattern will shift eastward enough to allow less cold air to drain southward into the Northeast, according to AccuWeather.

From this weekend through next week, on average, highs will range from the upper 50s to the lower 70s across New England and from near 70 to near 90 over the mid-Atlantic region, according to AccuWeather.

Then rain is expected to return next week.

Here is the forecast:

• Friday afternoon: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 82. Southwest wind 11 to 13 mph.
• Friday night: Scattered showers and thunderstorms before 7pm, then scattered showers between 7pm and 9pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 58. West wind around 8 mph becoming north after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
• Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 75. North wind 5 to 7 mph becoming west in the afternoon.
• Saturday night: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. South wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
• Sunday: A slight chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 82. South wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
• Sunday night: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
