Downtown Westfield Open After Underground Electrical Fire

WESTFIELD, NJ - An underground electrical fire late Thursday night has closed off a portion of Downtown Westfield.

The incident, which entailed smoke from a manhole but no visible fire, was contained to the PSE&G lines underground Thursday evening near Broad and Elm Streets, according to officials.

PSE&G arrived to cut the power to the underground lines as the Westfield Fire Department secured the area.

There were no injuries, and all roads in the area have been reopened., officials said
