Westfield Families Invited to Seminar on Gifted Programs for Local Kids
The Gifted Resources seminar will be held Feb. 4 at Edison Intermediate School. The event will include a film screening and guest speakers.

Westfield families with children in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade are invited to attend the annual Gifted Resources Seminar on Feb. 4 at Edison Intermediate School.
This free event organized by the Westfield Gifted Ed PTC to provide a wide range of information and enrichment opportunities to the community about a variety of programs designed for children of different ages and interests.
This year, the event will include a screening a special new documentary, “RISE: The Extraordinary Journey of the Exceptionally and Profoundly Gifted.” This moving documentary, produced by the Daimon Institute, follows 12 profoundly gifted children, providing a window into their lives and those of their parents and teachers. The movie begins at 7 p.m. in the Edison auditorium.

Throughout the evening, representatives from HEROES, Rutgers Pre College, Montclair State Gifted Program, the Writer’s Circle, New Jersey Association for Gifted Children, MENSA and Summer Institute for the Gifted will be stationed outside the auditorium to provide information and materials about their programs as well as offering engaging activities for students.
The event will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, at Edison Intermediate School located at 800 Rahway Avenue in Westfield. Admission to Westfield’s gifted programs is not a prerequisite to attend this event. The criteria varies for admission into the summer programs that will be highlighted by the different organizations attending tonight’s event.

This event is sponsored by the Westfield Gifted Ed PTC and is open to parents, teachers and students. The mission of the Gifted Ed PTC is to promote and support the intellectual curiosity of all students in the Westfield school district. The committee also provides support to the students and families that are admitted to and participate in Westfield’s Gifted Education Program.
