Westfield Group To Show Film About Teen Suicide-Attempt Survivor
The group, which runs a NJ crisis hotline, will have staff to answer questions after the free event Thursday. Seats have been added.
WESTFIELD, NJ — Emma Benoit was a 16-year-old varsity cheerleader in Louisiana when she attempted to harm herself. She survived, and years later is trying to bring hope and awareness about teen anxiety and suicide through her new documentary, "My Ascension." Thursday night, a Westfield-based group that staffs a New Jersey hotline will stream the film and answer questions live.
Caring Contact said that while the event was listed earlier as having been full, there are seats available (click the link below to register).
Caring Contact runs an award-winning, volunteer-staffed crisis hotline and listening community, providing active listening support and best-in-class training to Central and Northern New Jersey. More than 70 trained volunteer listeners answered over 15,000 calls last year from people in crisis, having suicidal thoughts or simply feeling depressed and lonely.
