Westfield High School Student Newspaper Wins Gold Medal
The Westfield High School student newspaper, Hi's Eye, won a Gold Medal award from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association, officials say.

The Westfield High School student newspaper, Hi’s Eye, won a Gold Medal award from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association, officials said.
The contest covered the 2014-15 school year, and the paper won in the hybrid newspaper/website program, according to an announcement on the district’s website.

“The judges wrote, ‘The paper has very good writing in the journalistic style.... The writers have strong research and interviewing techniques. The quotes reflect multiple sources interviewed and the transitions flow smoothly; this is a definite strength.’”
The advisors for the paper last year were Warren Hynes, Nicole Scimone, and now-retired teacher Rosemary DiBattista.
