Westfield Home 'Uninhabitable' After Tree Falls On It

The Lenox Avenue residence has been vacated, according to officials.

WESTFIELD, NJ - The latest round of severe weather that battered the area Sunday night left its mark on Lenox Avenue as a tree was uprooted and fell onto a home, according to Westfield Police Chief Christopher Battiloro.

According to authorities, shortly after 9:15 p.m. a large tree fell and struck a residence on the 400 block of Lenox Avenue in the midst of a severe thunderstorm.

Officials noted there was significant structural damage to the second and third floor of the home and that currently the home is uninhabitable. There were no reported injuries and the home was quickly vacated, officials said.

In addition to the police, the Westfield Fire Department and the town’s Construction Official responded to the scene to assess the condition of the home.
