Westfield Microbrewery Has An Opening Date

WESTFIELD, NJ — Union County's newest microbrewery, Lion's Roar in Westfield, announced last Thursday that it will open on Feb. 5.

"IT'S HAPPENING!" the owners said on Instagram last week. "After a LONG journey we can finally open our doors!! We are SO excited to announce that on Friday, February 5th we will open to the public!! Please keep an eye out on our socials as we roll out the details."

They said in a video that they are aiming to open just before the weekend of Super Bowl LV, slated to air on CBS on Feb. 7 at 6:30.

Owners Tim and Corinne Grant, who have lived in Westfield for seven years, began working on plans in 2019.

They posted on Instagram in August 2020 that the restaurant had passed its final building inspections, and announced on Sept. 1 that it received a Certificate of Occupancy from the town.

Last month, they started running pop-up shops in town, and they recently began selling 75 passes to their Membership Club for next year, which had to be purchased on site.

They say on their website that the idea came about after Tim got a home brewing kit for Father's Day years ago. "Heightened work stress and new parent struggles" led him to dive further into his passion for brewing. The owners say they hope people will come socialize and tell their stories at the establishment.

They are not the only microbrewery to open recent in Union County. Bull n Bear Brewery opened in Summit last month.
