Westfield Native Andrew McCarthy Says '80s Weren't Pretty Or Pink
The former "Brat Pack" actor and NJ native tells all in his new memoir, from bad auditions to addictions, according to the New York Post.
WESTFIELD, NJ — Former 1980s "Brat Pack" film actor Andrew McCarthy has a memoir coming out in May. According to a story in the New York Post, the Westfield native makes it abundantly clear that life during that colorful decade was not always "Pretty in Pink."
From failed auditions to dangerous addictions, to keeping his distance from costars Molly Ringwald and Jon Cryer, McCarthy tells all, according to the story. At one point, McCarthy reportedly took a road trip with cocaine spread on the back seat of the car, then "tried to sniff up as much as he could" when police approached, according to the story.
He also got rejected by a series of female actors, particularly Maplewood native Elizabeth Shue. Read more of the Post article here. The memoir, Brat, comes out May 11.
