Westfield Opera Singer Builds 'Speakeasy' In Basement
His pandemic hobby involved whiskey, and keeping it away from the kids.
WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield-based news producer and opera singer Philip Alongi has found another calling during the pandemic, reports the New York Post. He decided to take his collection of whiskey and create a model 1920-style speakeasy in his basement.
Alongi says it took him six weeks of working three hours a day to transform the basement. Now, his liquor is safe from Prohibition agents, as well as his three kids under five. Read more here.
