Westfield Paving Projects Ramp Up. See What Street Is Next

More than 90 roads and 18 miles of paving planned for 2019, and the work has already begun.

WESTFIELD, NJ - Westfield is going to make a record number of road improvements this year and the work has already begun.

Over the last nine years, the Town has paved an average of approximately four miles of roadway each year. This year, that figure will rise to more than eight total miles, 31 roads, marking an unprecedented effort in this area. In addition to the municipal paving efforts, the Town also announced an agreement with Elizabethtown Gas in which the utility will pave 9.82 miles of roadway on 59 roads that it has disrupted as part of its ongoing maintenance and repair work in various parts of Town over the course of the past 18 months.

Elizabethtown Gas' paving contractor, Atlantic Infrastructure, has begun its next phase of road repaving work in Westfield and resurfacing is scheduled to occur on the following roads, over the next 7-10 days, weather permitting:

Notices have been hand delivered by the paving contractor to residents within these areas in advance of this scheduled work, officials said.

"I am a firm believer in putting residents' tax dollars to work for them, and road improvements continues to be a top request that the Council members and I hear on a regular basis," said Mayor Shelley Brindle when the projects were announced. "We're very grateful for our continued strong partnership with Elizabethtown Gas. The road work that they've agreed to undertake is substantial and, notably, will mostly include curb-to-curb, full-width paving – versus the patching and partial road paving they have done in the past following completion of their work."
