WESTFIELD, NJ — The Westfield police sent out an alert Tuesday morning seeking information related to "numerous" car burglaries in one neighborhood.

Police sent an alert saying, "WPD investigating numerous MV burglaries on Bates Way and Willow Grove Parkway. Detectives seeking video. Please contact WPD if you can assist."

The alert did not state when the burglaries happened.

However, a town spokesperson said Tuesday that they were not part of the string of burglaries for which a teenage suspect from Newark was arrested on Sunday.

Police had said in a separate email Tuesday that they arrested a Newark teen on Sunday morning in connection with several car burglaries earlier that day, while a second suspect managed to flee. READ MORE: Westfield Police Arrest Teen After Suspect Crashes Into Patrol Car.

Police have arrested several groups out-of-town teenagers over the last year in connection with car burglaries, including three 16-year-olds in ski masks arrested on March 30.
