WESTFIELD, NJ — The Westfield Board of Education approved the appointment of LaNova Schall as Edison Intermediate School as assistant principal at their special virtual meeting Friday. Schall, currently assistant principal at the Van Derveer Elementary School in Somerville, starts Aug. 1.
Schall succeeds Crystal Marsh who was appointed Wilson School Principal at the June 15 Board meeting.

The interview committee for the Edison assistant principal position reviewed more than 150 resumes, selecting seven candidates for interviews.
“Mrs. Schall brings a wealth of experience to the Edison community, coupled with a passion for learning and a dedication to students,” says Edison principal Dr. Matthew Bolton. “I believe she will quickly develop an understanding of our students and our culture of high expectations.”
In Schall's current job, she supervises, observes and evaluates instructional staff, assists with the development of the school budget, participates in parent roundtable discussions to improve communication, and supports the students and staff.
She also is a content specialist for student teachers in the Urban Teacher Education Program (UTEP) at Rutgers University.
“I am ecstatic and truly humbled to be joining the Westfield Public Schools as Edison’s new
Assistant Principal,” said Schall, in remarks to the board Friday. “Westfield’s commitment to academic excellence, racial literacy, and social-emotional learning are what attracted me to the district. I look forward to joining Dr. Bolton and the district’s dynamic leadership team as we continue to provide the children and families of Westfield with the high-quality education they have come to expect from their public schools.”
