Westfield Y Fights Parkinson's With 'Delay the Disease' Exercise Program

An open house will be held at the Westfield Y on Feb. 25, featuring information on classes and support groups for those with Parkinson's.

The Westfield Area Y is celebrating its Third Anniversary of the “Delay the Disease: Exercise to Fight Parkinson’s s Symptoms” program with an Open House on Feb. 25 at the Main Y facility on Clark Street.

Research has shown that physical exercise has positive and measurable benefits for those living with Parkinson’s. The Y has implemented this unique program that incorporates strength, flexibility, balance and cardiovascular exercises.

These exercises can help soothe tremors, improve posture, smooth steps and increase overall well-being. Participants can observe or join in a Delay the Disease exercise class.
