2020 Virtual Summer Run Series To Kick Off Next Week
This four-week series will begin on July 13, and run until August 9. Up to 5,000 people will be allowed to participate.
LONG ISLAND, NY — Thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, some fitness enthusiasts have turned to running outside as a main source of exercise. Now runners can come together, while still keeping with COVID health guidelines. The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation announced that they will be hosting the 2020 Summer Run Series virtually.
This four-week series will begin on Monday, July 13 and run until Sunday, August 9. Participation in the series will be limited to 5,000 runners. The cost of the series is $20 plus a registration fee. To register, visit elitefeats.com/SummerRun.
Every runner who completes and uploads a 5K or more will be entered in the raffle to win one of 40 entries to the 2021 Summer Run Series. The runners who complete and log at least a 5K all four
weeks will be entered for a chance to win a four pack of tickets to the VIP Chalet at the 2021 Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach.

The raffles will take place after the completed week on Monday at 3 p.m. on Facebook Live. Each week will have a different theme and runners are encouraged to upload photos each week. Themes include Hero/Essential Workers, Favorite Mask/Buff, Retro Summer Run and Patriotic/ Red, White and Blue. All registered runners will receive a swag bag, which includes a limited-edition medal, at the end of the series. Runners will be able to pick up their swag bags at a date to be announced in August.
