Elsa Flooding Shuts Down LI Roads During Morning Rush
See which roads to avoid this morning as Tropical Storm Elsa causes serious flooding across the island.

UPDATE 10 a.m.: A flash flood warning is in effect until noon for Nassau County and until 12:45 p.m. for western Suffolk County. Move to higher ground immediately if you live in those areas, the NWS says.
Numerous reports of impassable roadways and flash flooding are coming in across southern Connecticut and Long Island. Bridgeport has recorded 3.61" of rain just since last night. Turn around, don't drown!

LONG ISLAND, NY — Tropical Storm Elsa has made a wet mess of the Friday morning commute as drivers are finding many roads unpassable due to flooding.
At 8 a.m. Friday, Elsa was located 90 miles southwest of Montauk with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph, the National Hurricane Center says. As of 8:24 a.m., PSEG Long Island is reporting that 1,933 of its customers are without power.

As expected, though, the big issue has been the heavy rain and reports of road closures have been rolling in all morning. A flash flood watch is in effect until noon for the entire island.
The list below of flooded roads and closures is from Suffolk County police, the New York State Department of Transportation and Nassau County Traffic Management.

- Round Swamp Road in West Hills, report of road flooding at Jericho Turnpike

- Flooding on Route 110 northbound at Conklin Street in Farmingdale
- Flooding on Northern State Parkway both directions between Exit 35N - NY 106 (Oyster Bay) and Exit 34 - Brush Hollow Road (North Hempstead); 1 lane may be closed
