The rain is much-needed as Long Island continues to experience severe drought conditions.
It will be a seasonably warm work week on Long Island with just one rain threat coming on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

In fact, the New York-metro area, Philadelphia and Boston are expected to receive rainfall above 0.01 of an inch for the first time since Oct. 30.

Rain could be moderate to locally heavy at times on Long Island Tuesday, the NWS says.
Besides the rain, expect dry conditions, sunny skies and mild conditions the rest of the week.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 62. Southwest wind around 8 mph.
Monday Night: Rain likely, mainly after 5am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 47. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Tuesday: Rain, mainly before 3pm. High near 55. Northeast wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Tuesday Night: A 30 percent chance of rain, mainly before 10pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 43. North wind around 8 mph becoming west after midnight.
Wednesday: Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 58. West wind 5 to 9 mph.
Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 44.
Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 58.
Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 42.
Friday: Sunny, with a high near 59.
