Press release from the Babylon Union Free School District:

May 20, 2021

Students in Samantha Covello’s fourth grade class at Babylon Memorial Grade School recently led a virtual interview with chemist and environmental scientist David Smith. The students took turns asking Smith questions they had prepared, and through his answers, learned all about his work testing soil and water with the Environmental Protection Agency. One of the biggest lessons the students took away from this exchange was that COVID-19 can be found in wastewater and scientists are able to use that data to see which areas have more or less cases of the virus.
