Babylon Gym To Host Murph Challenge Event This Weekend
The fundraiser will raise money for the LT. Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation in honor of LT. Michael P. Murphy.

BABYLON, NY — A Babylon gym will be hosting a fundraiser this weekend to honor a fallen Long Island hero.
Babylon CrossFit, on 158 E Main Street will be holding the "Murph Challenge" in honor of LT. Michael P. Murphy this Saturday.
Murphy, a Navy SEAL from Patchogue, was killed in Afghanistan during Operation Red Wings in 2005 at the age of 29. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions.

The local business will be serving as the official local host gym for the global event featuring an appearance and introduction by Murphy's father. The event will kick off at 8 a.m.
The challenge is the official annual fundraiser of the LT. Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation which has raised over $1 million since 2014.

All participating athletes will be working out six feet apart with masks when indoors and any immediate family planning to attend as spectators are encouraged to socially distance.
The workout includes a 1 mile run, 100 pullups, 200 pushups, 300 squats and another 1 mile run all in a 20 pound vest or body armor.
