Babylon HS Names Class Of 2021 Valedictorian, Salutatorian

BABYLON, NY — Babylon Junior-Senior High School recently announced this class of 2021 valedictorian and salutatorian.

In a small ceremony held in the school’s library, Principal Al Cirone recently made a formal announcement that this year's valedictorian is Darby Dreher and the salutatorian is Meghan Flaugher.

Throughout her high school career, Dreher has held numerous leadership positions, including president of the French Honor Society, secretary of the National Honor Society, secretary of the Business and Marketing honor societies, and publicity chairperson of the student council.

She also received several DECA regional and state awards as well as the AP Scholar with Honor award. Dreher is also a member of the principal’s list with high honors.

This fall, Dreher will attend the University of Virginia, majoring in economics.

Flaugher has been a member of the student council and class cabinet, the National Honor Society, and National Spanish, Science, Business, and English honor societies.

She received the AP Scholar with Honors award as well as the 2020 Bausch & Lomb honorary science award from the University of Rochester. She also participated in DECA and was a regional qualifier for all four years.

Flaugher was captain of both the varsity soccer and varsity softball teams. She was nominated for the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Scholar Award and received the 2021 Section XI Academic All-County Award.

This fall, Flaugher will begin her studies at Florida State University.
