Babylon School District Superintendent Aims to Connect School and Community

Babylon School District Superintendent Linda Rozzi launches Coffee with the Superintendent, an effort to connect school and community.

In her first few months serving as Babylon School District Superintendent, Linda Rozzi has launched a new initiative called Coffee with the Superintendent, aimed at making strong connections with the district’s parents and community.

The program came to fruition on Sept. 21 during a meeting at Babylon Elementary School library, and follow up discussions are scheduled throughout the year. The goal of the meeting was to have an open conversation about happenings in the district, address questions and concerns and open the lines of communication with the community.

“As parents and community partners, you are the best advocates for our students,” said Rozzi. “I am so thrilled to join the Babylon School District and look forward to working together to advocate for our children.”

Rozzi has been working with the Board of Education (BOE), administrators and teachers to focus on seven priorities for the district. During the meeting, she discussed the priorities, which include instruction and learning, school safety and security, fiscal responsibility, technological advancements, professional development, community relations and communication, and facilities. An in-depth discussion will be presented during the district’s Oct. 19 BOE meeting.

“I think we had a nice turnout for the first event and this type of environment helps to open up the dialogue between the district and its adult partners,” Rozzi said.
