Babylon Village Pool Will Open This June: 'We Will Have A Summer'
Residents welcome the news that the beloved village pool will reopen after being closed last summer due to coronavirus.

BABYLON, NY— Babylon Village board members announced last week that the Babylon Village municipal pool will reopen this summer after not opening in Summer 2020 due to the pandemic. The pool, a landmark and favorite amenity of Babylon Village residents, will open on Saturday, June 24.
Mayor Mary Adams, and board members Frank Seibert, Dominic Bencivenga and Anthony Cardali held a news conference at the pool last Wednesday.
Mayor Adams called the pool "our jewel on the bay" and reflected that it's hard to believe it's been a year since the pandemic forced the closure of municipal activities in the village.

Trustee Cardali said that the village has used the time to make improvements at the pool. The concession stand will open, and new adult activities are planned for evenings at the pool. Swimming lessons will also return, following social distancing health guidelines.

He told Patch that he welcomed the news.
"I'm very excited for the pool to open again. I was sad that it wasn't open last year even though I think closing it was the right decision."
The village is currently hiring for summer jobs at the pool on the village website.
"We will have a summer in Babylon Village," Adams said.
