IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE
WILLING TO GIVE ME A CHANCE
Take a look at this adorable little nugget, Cora! Cora arrived at the Babylon Animal Shelter in April of 2019 after being found as a stray. She was very skinny and scared. She waited and waited for her family, but no one ever came in to look for Cora, and no one had the heart to tell her that those she thought loved her had simply abandoned her and weren’t coming to take her home.
Alone, forgotten and unnoticed Cora sits in her kennel and barks and whines for her family to come back. The stress, other dogs and noise are causing Cora anxiety. Cora craves human love and attention and does not like being left alone. She has even jumped out of her kennel at the shelter (some kennels are opened on top) to go looking for her people.

Not knowing where Cora is originally from, we can only look at her current behavior and apply the knowledge that we have in order to understand and help her. There are lots of reasons why some dogs become attention-seekers and may crave more love and attention than others. One of the most common is that they are bored. Another is dogs that are left alone for long periods of time become far clingier and what is perceived as attention seeking is actually a separation anxiety issue. Some dogs who lack confidence or are fearful can also require more contact with their people because it helps them feel safer. Beautiful Cora is sadly struggling with all of this.
None of these reasons should have caused her abandonment or should deter anyone from adopting this stunning girl! Take a look at her beautiful little face and tell us how you could simply pass her by. Just listening to her cry in her kennel is beyond heartbreaking and we simply cannot allow her to stay there any longer.

Cora is a little unsure of herself and needs some confidence building. A family who will work with her on her anxiety issues and not leave her home alone all day. She gets very attached to her people and wants to be with them always! She will need some reassurance, TLC and someone to teach her how to relax. Cora would do best in a home where someone is there most of the day and is willing to commit to working with her. The shelter is also highly recommending a home with at least a 6 foot high fenced in yard.
Cora is very smart, loves to play with her toys and learn new tricks. She knows her basic commands and has good leash manners. Cora loves everyone, is super friendly, especially with children; households with children 10 years and older are recommended since she is so full of energy and can get jumpy.
She is extremely affectionate and will make an amazing family dog with her lively friendly personality. She is truly a wonderful girl that deserves a chance to have a good life; however, it’s important to remember that Cora is not just any other dog, she’s a little more of everything a family dog can be. If you are looking for a sporty pal maybe even an agility partner Cora is your girl!
Cora loves people and is very high energy, 2 years old, and a tiny 40 pounds at most. She has a very fun bubbly personality, and is extremely affectionate, sweet and gentle. Her favorite things are belly rubs, sitting close to her people, treats, cuddling, playing in the pool, giving hugs (she literally gives hugs) and is a velcro girl. She is extremely smart and loves to learn and have a job to do. She does not however like other dogs; she has not been socialized and can be both aggressive and reactive toward them even when they are on the other side of the fence. As tiny as she is, Cora is a little powerhouse and has jumped the fence to get to the other dogs. She will need to be the only pet in a home, no other dogs, no cats.
Cora is a truly beautiful girl inside and out! She needs a very special home with an active family who can devote their time and attention to her. She has truly begun to blossom at the shelter, but it is extremely overstimulating for her making it difficult for her to relax and calm down. She needs a savvy experienced patient family who will give her the time she needs to decompress, adjust to home life, and keep her safe.
Cora has been at the shelter waiting for her forever home too long; she sits in her kennel just waiting for someone to spare a glance at her yet he keeps getting passed by. Won’t someone please give her a chance? There must be a family out there who is the perfect match for this adorable girl; she is truly special and so deserving of a home, please give her a chance.
