DuWayne Gregory Joins McBride Consulting and Business Development

Former 15th District Suffolk County Legislator has Joined the Company as Senior Vice President

McBride Consulting and Business Development Group, business strategies and political lobbying services company, announces that DuWayne Gregory, former 15th District Suffolk County Legislator has joined the company as Senior Vice President.

As Senior Vice President, Gregory will be involved in the day to day operations at McBride Consulting and Business Development Group with a concentration in diversity issues and the MWBE practice, which is rapidly growing. Gregory’s knowledge of government and policies will help the team provide clients with comprehensive solutions that comply with all applicable minority, women, disadvantaged, service-disabled veteran-owned business enterprise requirements on the federal, state, county and local levels.

An Army veteran, DuWayne Gregory has given 26 years of service to his country, county and community. In 2014, Gregory became the first person of color to be elected as Presiding Officer of the Suffolk County Legislature and was the third longest-serving officer in history. He served five terms in the Suffolk County Legislature and was responsible for leading the Legislature on building the economy, promoting accessible transportation and affordable housing, prioritizing the fight against crime, and maintaining quality higher education accessible for everyone.

In 2011, Gregory became the first person of color to be elected Majority Leader of the Suffolk County Legislature. In that role, Gregory led the Democratic caucus, which has controlled the Legislature since 2006.

His career in public service consists of landmark achievements, including creating a gun offender registry, bringing back neighborhoods by creating the Suffolk County Land Bank which helps put blighted properties back on the tax rolls, and making Suffolk County the first municipality in the nation to ban the sale of powdered caffeine to minors.

Gregory has created several youth programs, including the Next Generation Advisory Council, Youth Leadership Caucus, Distinguished Youth Award and Page Summer Internship Program. He recently directed the county to create a pilot homeownership program to address obstacles faced by millennials with mounting student loan debt. Gregory also established a Youth Anti-Bullying Task Force made up of high school students who discuss challenges associated with bullying in the 21st century and develop creative solutions to stop it.

DuWayne Gregory has received many honors throughout his career. In 2019, the City and State recognized Gregory as one of Long Island’s Top 100 Influencers and he was named to the Color of Power List as one of the Top 100 Black Influencers in New York State. In addition to other accolades, Gregory made Long Island Press’ Power List from 2015-2019.
